Types of Water Leak Detectors
Although all water leak detectors operate on the same principle, they differ in their design, material construction and applications. Most of the household alarms are classified as spot detectors because the unit alarms on the spot or area where they are installed.

There are however more sophisticated detectors developed to satisfy the needs of business and commercial applications. This system is classified as “continuous run” sensing which is what commercial operations needs. The leak detection of this system is more comprehensive because it can detect leaks in multiple locations, in larger areas and can pinpoint the exact location of the leaks.

For homeowners’ purposes however, we can classify water leak detectors in just three ways.

The cost of this type of detector ranges from $99 to $399 per unit.
• Complete System For The Whole House – This is what you will need if you want your whole house protected from water leakage and flooding. The system could either be hard-wired or wireless depending on your preference. Every room and place in your house where there is the potential of water leaks is covered. Once a leak is detected in any one place, the system will automatically shut-off the mains water supply line. You can also choose a system that will notify you, where ever you are, when a leak is detected. You will have to pay somewhere between $199 and $999 to get one of this system.
